How to make Portrait in Photoshop

Making a painting or a portrait in Photoshop is not that easy task. It needs hard work, perfection and creativity too much. If you know the basics of the designing and photo processing software Photoshop, then you can do it without too much effort. There are some simple tips and tricks which can convert any picture into a semi virtual painting. All you need to do is perfection in operating a mouse. If you can't operate your pc mouse or laptop touch-pad easily, then you can buy a light pen (digital pen) from any computer store or from online shopping websites. 

Here is a step by step guide with pictures that'll show you the exact idea of making a painting or portrait via an original picture. 

#1 First of all you need to open photoshop and open any picture you want to turn into painting or portrait. 



#2 After that, you need to open a new layer without any colour or background. Just keep this layer above.


#3 After it, you need to select picture layer and decrease it's opacity upto 50%. 


#4 Now select the blank layer and pick brush tool with black or any dark colour you want to use in outlines of your picture. Start drawing lines following picture. Take a look at the sample picture below to know the idea. 


#5 After a hard work of outlining and giving shades to the object. Make it "Flatten Image". The Rest would be look like the picture below. You need to use you extra creativity and tact for making picture more like painting.

How to Convert any Picture into Painting in Photoshop

In this post, you will learn that how to make any picture a legit painting. This converting is so easy in Photoshop (designing software). The complete step by step tutorial with pictures below will clear the process.

#Step 1 - Open Photoshop.


#Step 2 - Open any Image File.


#Step 3 - Image file should be colourful.


#Step 4 - Double click the "Background" Icon of right corner box and click on "Ok" to make it a Layer.


#Step 5 - Click on Layer > Duplicate Layer. And click "Ok" on Duplicate Layer Box. Now you have to "Same Image" Layers.



#Step 6 - Click on First Layer and then click on Filters > Sketch > Photocopy. Then Adjust "Photocopy" option with your requirements and click Ok. 



#Step 7 - The Image would be look like a Black and White Sketch. Now you need to Decrease the "Opacity" and "Fill" (at least 50%) below in the right corner.


Now upper layer is little transparent and the layer behind is appearing and making it look like a Painting. 


#Step 8 - Now you need to click on the >> icon of lower right box  (>> is next to Layers Channels and Paths) and a wizard appears. Click on "Merge Visible" Option. Now you both layers have merged and become one layer. 


#Step 9 - Now click on Filters > Artistic > Poster Edges. The Poster Edges wizard will open. Now you need to adjust the poster edges effect with your requirements. After it click on Ok button. 



Your Painting is now Ready. Save it in any format you want (like jpeg, png, gif, bitmap etc.). Click on File > Save As, and then choose the file type, name the file and then click ok.
