In 1915, during World War I, Heidi, presently fifteen years of age, actually lives in the Swiss Alps with her granddad. The young ladies go through the mountains and are found by Peter, who has brought them food. He passes on them the following morning to get a sled and, while he is gone, Signor Bonelli finds them. To ensure his mysteries, he expects to counterfeit a mishap in which every one of the young ladies tumbles off the mountain. Heidi calls Peter, who shows up on schedule to save them; Signor Bonelli battles with Peter and tumbles off the mountain to his demise.
